Kingslayer

Kiers blade sang a song of blood and vengeance as he and his men carved a path into the palace. Nobles and soldiers alike fell to him, any who fought, died screaming. Finally Kier found himself standing before the kings chambers surrounded by dead men. He had plunged ahead of his men in his haste to reach the king. He'd wanted to face the man who'd killed Raina.

"Tonight Raina I kill the man who took you from me. Wait for me my love, only a while longer and we shall see each other again. This i swear," he whispered, and with a grunt he planted a boot in the door's center.

The door gave way to his strength, and he strode inside the opulent room, his eyes scanning for the king. There he was, trembling in his bedchamber, his crown askew on his head. Kier approached him slowly, relishing the fear that he saw in the king's eyes.

"Did you think you could get away with it?" Kier hissed. "Did you think you'd be safe on your throne while Raina lay dead?"

The king stood before a massive fireplace, a fire already lit.

"Is that why you have made war on my kingdom? For a whore!?" The massive man burst out laughing.

"How dare you!? You fat fuck, I'll carve out your heart!" Kier said lunging at the king. The big man swatted his blade aside with a meat fist. With the other he swung a massive maul, that Kier dodged, barely. The maul shattered the fine dining table laden with wine and food. Kier dragged himself to his feet wiping stinging blood from where a shard of wood had cut him. He carefully circled the king lightly leaping over a chair. The king charged lashing out with his maul, catching kier with a glancing blow along his shoulder, spinning him about. Kier grimaced his left arm was numb, he had to end this now before the king ended him.

With a growl, Kier launched himself at the king once again, this time aiming for his neck. But the king was ready for him, and sidestepped with ease. Kier stumbled, and the king seized the opportunity to strike him with his maul once more. Kier's world went dark for a moment, but he refused to let himself fall. With sheer force of will, he stayed on his feet and plunged his blade deep into the king's chest.

The king gurgled and coughed on his own blood as he fell backward, dead. Kier pulled his blade out, breathing heavily with exertion and triumph. The king slumped into a guilded chair, Grunting in pain.

"you took her from me, I take your life." Kier plunged his sword into the king's chest, a second time twisting it for good measure. The king let out a final gasp, and Kier withdrew his sword, watching as the life left the man's eyes.

he staggered and slumped onto the kings rumpled bed, with blood stained hand you reached into his long coat Andrew forth a worn letter written in Raina's hand. As always Kier's heart leapt at the sight of her familiar writing.

"My love," the letter read. "I don't have much time. But know that I always loved you, and always will. Find the strength to avenge me, Kier. Find the man who did this and make him pay."

Kier felt a lump form in his throat as he read her words. He had completed his mission, but it still felt as though Raina's death was an open wound inside him. He would make the man pay, but it wouldn't bring Raina back. Nevertheless, he would honor her final wish and continue to seek justice for her.

His mission was complete, and Raina's death had been avenged. As he left the room and made his way back to his men, he couldn't help but feel a sense of emptiness. He had achieved his goal, but at what cost?

Nevertheless, he knew that he would do it all over again if it meant protecting those he loved. For he was Kier, the Kingslayer, and his and he walked from the palace and into the annals of history.
